Reedley, CA – September 20, 2025 — In a high-octane intercollegiate matchup that had all the ingredients of a classic, the Reedley Tigers edged out the Shasta Knights in a 35–34 overtime thriller at Reedley College. With both teams refusing to back down, the game came down to a gutsy two-point conversion attempt in overtime that ultimately fell short for Shasta.
Fast Start for Reedley
The Tigers came out roaring in the first quarter, jumping to a commanding 14–0 lead behind explosive plays. Just 2:34 into the game, running back Jamari Davis punched it in from 10 yards out to open the scoring. Reedley struck again with only eight seconds left in the quarter when quarterback Jose Soriano found Donavan Smith deep for a 65-yard touchdown.
Second Quarter Fireworks
Shasta responded early in the second quarter with a grinding 11-play, 65-yard drive capped by a 1-yard plunge from Trevan Crane. However, Reedley immediately answered on the very next possession, as Jacob Saldate hauled in a 39-yard touchdown to push the lead back to 21–7.
The Knights refused to go away. With less than a minute remaining in the half, Jayden Crace scampered in from five yards out to make it a one-score game at 21–14.
Third Quarter Showdown
Reedley opened the second half with an impressive 14-play, 73-yard drive that ate up over eight minutes of clock. Kalvin Voyles caught a 13-yard TD pass from Soriano to make it 28–14.
But again, Shasta responded swiftly. Crane, the offensive star of the day for the Knights, broke free for a 51-yard touchdown run to keep Shasta within striking distance at 28–21.
Late-Game Heroics
Down by seven with less than a minute remaining in regulation, Shasta drove the field and tied the game on another 5-yard run by Crace with just 23 seconds left. The extra point by Juan Velazquez sent the game to overtime tied at 28.
Overtime Drama
Reedley struck first in overtime with Hunter Babb finding the end zone on a 10-yard run. Haney's PAT made it 35–28.
Shasta answered with a determined series of runs, culminating in Crane's third rushing touchdown of the game, a 1-yard push up the middle. Rather than kick for the tie, Shasta opted to go for the win with a two-point conversion. But Crace's pass attempt on the conversion was broken up by the Tigers' defense, sealing a dramatic 35–34 Reedley victory.
