The Tigers hosted the 4th Big 8 Conference tournament of the season at Kings River Golf & Country Club in Kingsburg, the Tigers home course, at a 69-year old golf course with a lot of character and hazards surrounding the beautiful layout. The weather conditions were very nice, with sunshine and temperatures in the mid 60's, and very little wind. The Tigers played a very solid round of golf as a team, shooting a 371 (+11) score on the afternoon, and placing them 1st among the 8 teams. The team score was the 5th best score ever recorded at Kings River GCC in Tiger program history!! The greens were relatively firm but smooth, and made hitting quality shots a priority on the afternoon. Approach shots that landed on the greens at times placed the golf ball a farther distance from the flagstick than the Tigers would like. The Tigers tallied 15 Birdies on the day, and outlasted the conference competition by 4 shots! The Tigers improved their overall head-to-head record at KRGCC to 77-1 since 2011, winning 24 of 25 tournaments during that span!! Leading the way for the Tigers was Preston Harris, who posted a Reedley College Individual scoring record round of 5 under par 67, and was the Individual Medalist for the day, garnering his 2nd consecutive Big 8 Conference victory!! Elias Pettersson posted a round of Even par 72, finishing in sole 2nd overall ranking for his efforts. Preston and Elias rank 1-2 in the Big 8 Conference Individual standings race for the M.V.P. Jack Peters gutted out a round of 76. Jack was able to overcome a double bogey early in his round, displaying his mental toughness and determination. Chase Bird made 4 Birdies in shooting his +5 score of 77 on the afternoon. The team score was ahead of 2nd place finisher Fresno City College, and allowed the Reedley team to continue their dominance in the Big 8 Conference standings after 4 tournaments, winning the last 3. The Tigers left with a record of 7-0 for the day, and an overall record of 29-2 on the season, 26-2 in the Big 8, and enabled the Tigers to build a comfortable six point advantage over 2nd place Fresno City College. Next up on the schedule for the Tigers will be another Big 8 Conference Tournament at Buena Vista Golf Course in Taft on Wednesday. Taft College will serve as the host, with tee times scheduled to begin at 12:00 noon.
