Tigers came in 2nd place on the day by 11 strokes for Big 8 Conference Tournament #8

The Tigers came in 2nd place on the day by 11 strokes for Big 8 Conference Tournament #8, even though they played some decent team golf, shooting a team score of 382 (+22).  Leading the way for Reedley College was Jack Peters, who shot a +1 over par round of 73, contributing 4 Birdies and finishing in 3rd Place Individually overall out of 48 players on the day.  Chase Bird posted the next best round of 74, converting 4 Birdies and shooting -2 on his back 9, and also finishing in the Top 5 overall individually.  Preston Harris and Preston Castleton both posted 78's, not playing their best golf but grinding out a competitive scores for the Tigers. Elias Pettersson rounded out the scoring on the afternoon with an 79, but did not finish the round the way that he would have liked, shooting +7 on his final 9 holes.  Elias also made 4 Birdies on the day, making the total of 17 Birdies for the Tigers on this warm but breezy day in Oakdale. Reedley simply had too many penalties accumulated on the afternoon, having to absorb 6 penalty scenarios. Reedley had more good than bad happen on the day with their play, and were definitely not satisfied with the result of a 2nd place finish, and know that they must continue to improve as they get closer to the end of the regular season.  The Tigers' record in the Big 8 Conference now stands at 51-4, winning 5 of the last 7 conference tournaments to date, and overall the Tigers are 54-4 on the season.  The Tigers still hold a 6 tournament advantage over the Fresno City team.  Reedley has 140 points, and 2nd place FCC has 134 total points.  Reedley has four more tournaments left in the 2023 Big 8 Conference regular season, so the grind is set to begin.  The focus for this team is now to finish the regular season on a strong note!  The next tournament will be held at Turlock Golf & Country Club in Turlock on Monday. The tournament is slated to begin with a shotgun start at 11:30 am, and will be hosted once again by the Modesto JC Pirates program.
